Visitors to
World War II Days engage in elaborate 1940s displays in historical buildings
on the museum’s 148-acre campus, which becomes the back drop of a European
village during World War II. The military re-enactment
Festivities
include encampments of Allied and Axis troops in the Midway Village woods and
realistic skirmishes integrated in the historic village. World War II Days
includes elaborate and realistic battles complete with tanks, artillery,
armored vehicles, and exciting pyrotechnic displays. More than 1,000
uniformed re-enactors representing soldiers from the United States, Great
Britain, France, Poland, Ukraine, Russia, Japan, Italy, and Germany along
with 70 to 80 vintage tanks, half tracks and other 1940s military vehicles
make this a not-to-miss special event. Other event features:

Members receive free parking. All non-members pay a $2 parking fee. A special reminder to Museum Members, please
make sure to bring your membership card to the World War II Days special
event and present the member card in order to receive your free parking and
admission.
General Admission
Visitor Parking Information for World War II Days
A $2 per car parking fee
for non-member visitors will be taken at the entrance of the parking lots.
Cash is appreciated when paying the parking fee. Your fee covers the
additional expenses for special event security and parking lot attendants
during the World War II Days special event. These event costs were previously
absorbed by the Rockford Park District.
Registered wrist banded
re-enactors are the only guests admitted into the event in vintage military
uniforms. Visitors to the event may dress in 1940s civilian costumes
only, if they wish, as long as the visitor admission sticker is worn
prominently.

Friday Evening Event!
Behind the
Lines
Friday, September 21 5 pm. – 8 pm Location: Midway Village Museum 6799 Guilford Road Rockford, Illinois Go behind the scenes of Midway Village Museum’s World War II Days special event the evening before it opens to the public. This up-close preview will include village tours of the camps, vehicles, and General Patton’s command tent. Followed by dinner, Historian Edward E. Gordon will provide a presentation in the main museum center titled “Divided on D-Day: New Perspectives on the Normandy Campaign”. Gordon will provide a fresh perspective on the Normandy Invasion and the following three-month campaign. Admission $35 Non-Members, $30 Members. Space is limited. Preregistration and prepayment is required by Wednesday, September 12. Call 815-397-9112 to register.
